Preparing for Gartner Symposium ITxpo Barcelona

Preparing for Gartner Symposium ITxpo Barcelona

The Gartner Symposium ITxpo is taking place between the 8th – 12th November at the Centre Convencions Internacional (CCIB) in Barcelona, and we’re delighted to be part of the event. Gartner are globally renowned for their research targeting CIOs and IT leaders, and the Symposium is the culmination of all their combined knowledge and expertise.

The event has been heralded as “The world’smost important gathering of CIOs and Senior IT Executives” so we’re very excited at the opportunity both to attend the event and showcase the capabilities of Tempus Resource on the exhibiting floor. We know the value these events hold, having been to Texas and London earlier this year for the Gartner PPM & IT Governance Summits.

A true learning experience
The Gartner Symposium ITxpo has been moulded from the feedback of previous events, so attendees can expect a true focus on the most common challenges CIOs face and the best methods of solving them. The event will be regarding the digital wave that is sweeping through business culture, and the methods of adapting to be ready for this change. The event promises an in-depth look into the following:

  • Solving the toughest challenges CIOs face through structuring mission-critical priorities.
  • Rethinking traditional roles to lead innovation in your business.
  • Discovering disruptive future trends and new technologies to help you reimagine the future.
  • Providing leadership insight to help you enhance your journey as a business and technology leader.
Separated into 3 categories and 6 tracks, there has been a shift from the framework of previous Symposiums. The new and improved framework brings more of a focus on high-impact initiatives. Spread across the categories of Business Outcomes, Leadership and Technology & Information, the 6 tracks that will cover the event are:

  • Drive Business Growth
  • Create a Dynamic Organization
  • Lead the Digital Enterprise
  • Plan for the Digital Future
  • Architect the Digital Business
  • Renovate the IT Core
So, who should attend?

Considering Gartner’s area of expertise, the event is specifically designed for Corporate-wide CIOs, Business Unit CIOs and Senior IT leaders that report to the CIO. However, the event will provide a wealth of useful information to anyone with an interest in the changing digital landscape.

What to expect

"A digital wave is sweeping through every industry, organization and culture. The Gartner Symposium/ITXpo 2015 offers you the opportunity to harness this massive wave of technology change. From personal development to process reinvention, Gartner is here to help you rise to the challenge."

Targeted to help you succeed in leading the “new digital landscape”, the Gartner Symposium ITxpo will join together a community of CIOs and provide them with insight in the following themes:

Growing the business

Learn how to take value from “business moments”, create systems and processers that adapt to the customer, and create value by elevating every customer experience.

Creating a world-class organisation

Transform the enterprise into a vital digital workplace. Engage and collaborate with IT business stakeholders and demonstrate an entrepreneurial mind set.

Staying competitive

Embrace innovation and scale new ideas in order to fully exploit the opportunities presented by real-time analytical decision making.

There are also 3 subthemes to be included:

Elevate personal leadership

Create collective success

We are the business

In addition to all the good stuff above, the Symposium and ITxpo will also include mastermind, industry and analyst keynotes and peer engagement. Attendees receive two 30-minute Gartner analyst one-to-one meetings, along with analyst-user roundtables spread across the event. There is an industry-intensive program on the Sunday that includes sessions, networking and guest speakers, and of course the ITxpo exhibiting floor where we will be showcasing our Tempus Resource tool.

Our involvement

We’re very proud to be an Emerging Technologies Exhibitor at the Symposium and we know it’s a great opportunity to show what Tempus Resource can do. With so many PPM tools on the market, why do companies still leverage Excel to do their Resource Planning? There is a growing recognition that the way people currently manage their projects is failing. This is down to a number of reasons, but one of the main ones is that traditional PPM tools focus on the task and the deadline, when really the focus should be on the people getting the project done.

Companies such as Emprise Bank and Fundtech manage hundreds of resources in multiple countries. We will be showcasing real-world examples of how they perform innovative “What-If” modelling for their Strategic Resource decisions through Tempus Resource.

We’ll be teaming up with our UK partners’ Program Framework once again, which we’re really looking forward to. So if you’re attending and want to see a live demo or ask a couple of questions about resource management, there’ll be plenty of us on hand to help and answer any queries you may have. We hope to see you there.
